Product Discontinuation Notice
after careful consideration, QIAGEN has decided to discontinue the production of the aLF Reader with May 30, 2021 as final date of order placement and June 30, 2021 as final date of delivery. We will continue to provide lifecycle and service support until June 30, 2026.
While we regret any inconvenience this announcement may cause, we are pleased to supply you with alternate reader solutions for rapid testing from our subsidiary company DIALUNOX GmbH. Feel free to contact us for further questions.
What is aLF?
aLF is an open reader platform capable of accurately reading every lateral flow test format.
The point-of-care market is currently overloaded with a number of instruments that are very similar in use yet offer a very limited test menu.
The aLF instrument allows the end-users, be it a nursing home or an emergency department in a hospital, to use a broad range of rapid tests on a single device. This avoids having a zoo of different analyzing instruments in the labs.
aLF is CE-IVD registered.

What are the benefits of aLF?
The use of aLF open platform offers a great number of different advantages, but we only have space to mention a few…
As the aLF Reader is an open platform, it is up to you to decide what test you should run on your device. This is aLF’s main advantage over closed system solutions that mean you are no longer fully dependent on a single manufacturer.
We can expand our test menu much faster than a single lateral flow test developer. As you would expect, only tests that withstand our high quality standards can join the aLF family.

New tests are regularly published on this website. Visit alf-reader.com on a regular basis to be fully aware of any updates.
Much effort needs to be put in to develop a workflow that is intuitively to use. The aLF Reader provides a workflow that requires minimal training and yet ensures a high safety standard.
Minimum training is required in order to learn how to operate the device.
Barcodes are scanned to input the test method and sample names can be entered via barcode too!
We keep you up and running by replacing your reader if there is an issue with the device. You get a replacement device that you can keep so that there is no hurry to send the aLF Reader back to us.
Control user access and privileges via the user management screen on the device.
The aLF Reader has an internal connection port for Ethernet connection to a local network. The aLF Connect middleware will manage your results from all connected readers in a convenient and user friendly way. Further connection options from this middleware available to a lab information system (LIS)/hospital information system (HIS) or the cloud are planned.
How much does my aLF Reader cost?
Given the many benefits from the aLF open platform, you might expect the aLF reader will be very expensive. However, its cost is much less and whether you buy or rent, this works out as equivalent to a cup of coffee a day!
